Brigadier General Sheikh Nawaf bin Mubarak Al Thani is a Qatari author, strategist, and commentator on international affairs. He served as Qatar’s Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché to the United States, Canada, and Mexico, after holding senior roles in defense intelligence, strategic communications, and international security at the Ministry of Defense in Doha.
Over nearly three decades, his work has spanned military, intelligence, diplomatic, and multinational operational settings, including conflict zones and high-level international security engagements.
Dialogue as a vocation
He is the founder and president of the Council on International Mediation, a platform dedicated to dialogue, conflict resolution, and the study of mediation in international affairs.
A columnist and public commentator, he is also the founder of Polistratics, a platform focused on policy, strategy, and geopolitics. His commentary has appeared on international networks and in publications including NBC News, BBC, CBS News, Sky News, and The Washington Post.
The written work
He is the author of the Arabic-language book Coffee with a Dash of Fascism. The Wars of Peace, his first book in English, opens The Gulf Between series. The next volume is Terms of Alliance: Qatar, the Gulf, and the American Bargain.
